Nicolás Fuchs

Professional rally car driver Nicolás Fuchs talks about the high level of excitement the sport provides him. He emphasizes how rally car driving is a great opportunity for him to build camaraderie with his team, which he considers his family. Fuchs’ passion as a mechanic, and his profession as a race car driver, together allow him to pursue escalating challenges in the sport. Fuchs talks about the demands of the sport, competing in nearly 20 races per year, how racing and training sessions can last up to 10 hours, and how critical nutrition and fitness are to his success. Nicolás Fuchs made his rally car debut in 2005, racing in Peru’s Premio Presidente de la República. He achieved his first victory two years later, competing in the N4 category of that very same rally. Since then, Fuchs has secured his reputation as the most successful driver in Peru by repeatedly winning National Rally Championships. He rose to the spotlight by winning the championship title in his first appearance at the 2009 Inca Trail Rally, one of the few remaining long-distance events in the world. In 2011, Fuchs brought his talents to the Production Car World Rally Championship and took fifth place overall in a breakthrough performance. In 2013, he became Production Cup Champion after winning six consecutive races, becoming the first Peruvian pilot to achieve this award. In 2014, Fuchs is competing in the Fia World Rally Championship 2 (WRC2), which pits drivers and production-based cars against some of the toughest and most varied conditions on the planet.
